3RD INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL “SUSTAINABILITY IN INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS”

The Erasmus+ BIP Sustainability in International Business hosted by the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Maribor, brought together 39 students from 8 EU countries to delve into the principles and practices of sustainability in international business. This dynamic program blended interactive virtual sessions, academic lectures, and hands-on workshops with immersive social and cultural experiences.

Highlights of the Program:

  • Engaging Virtual Start: Students participated in an interactive online lecture that introduced sustainability concepts and showcased global best practices from companies like Unilever, Google, and Patagonia.
  • Academic Excellence: Lectures by renowned experts, including insights into sustainability in aquaculture, cybersecurity risks, and strategic sustainability in value chains, provided students with cutting-edge knowledge.
  • Real-World Case Studies: Presentations from leading Slovenian and international companies such as Skaza, ELAN, and HOFER highlighted sustainability practices across diverse industries, offering valuable lessons and inspiration.
  • Interactive Learning: Workshops encouraged students to role-play stakeholders, brainstorm sustainability solutions, and analyze business models for their sustainable practices.
  • Cultural Exploration: Social programs included guided tours of Maribor, volleyball matches, film screenings, and visits to sustainable tourism destinations like Bled and Ribno Alpine Resort.

Key Outcomes:
Students enhanced their knowledge of sustainability, developed intercultural competencies, and formed meaningful connections with peers, academics, and industry professionals. The program fostered collaborations, inspired future initiatives, and provided actionable insights into implementing sustainability in global business operations.

The week concluded with a celebration of achievements, strengthening ties among participants and reaffirming the importance of sustainable business practices in a globalised world.
