Putting a Playful Smile on Children’s Faces: Join the Charity Campaign!

December is the time when the festive spirit fills our homes, brings us together and inspires us to be selfless, and the good men of the festive month come to us. While many of us enjoy the warmth and giving gifts, this period is an opportunity to remember the children who, due to social hardships, are unable to experience the magic of the festive season.

To make the holidays brighter for at least some of these children, the University of Maribor Student Council in cooperation with the Slovenian Association of Friends of Youth is organising the traditional charity campaign “Putting a Playful Smile on Children’s Faces”. It will take place between 2 and 16 December 2024, with the aim of collecting sweets and toys for children from socially disadvantaged families.

How can you help?

As part of the campaign, we are collecting:

• sweets (chocolates, candies, biscuits and other non-perishable treats),
• new or well-preserved toys that will bring festive joy (toys, books, picture books, board games).

Symbolic handover and socialising

All collected sweets and toys will be symbolically handed over at a symbolic event on 17 December 2024 at 4 pm at the Rector’s Office of the University of Maribor. The event will be an opportunity to hand over all the toys collected to the Slovenian Association of Friends of Youth, which will then give the toys to children from socially disadvantaged families.

Festive solidarity

The “Putting a Playful Smile on Children’s Faces” campaign is not just about the collection of gifts, but it is an expression of solidarity, compassion and togetherness at this special time of the year. Together, we can put smiles on children’s faces and give them a holiday full of warmth and joy.

We invite you to join the campaign and contribute to the best of your ability! Every contribution counts and helps to build holiday magic for children who need it most. Small actions can make a big difference – together, let’s make the holidays brighter!
